Holly Gomes

Employment and Family LawyerHolly was raised in Waterloo Region.  She received her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario and her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice and Public Policy from the University of Guelph.  During law school, Holly worked and volunteered at Community Legal Services, representing individuals in civil and criminal matters.

After her call to the bar in 2012, Holly worked in a small Ontario community at a legal clinic representing and advocating for low-income and marginalized individuals.  She led negotiations and appeared before civil courts and administrative tribunals and boards.  She gained experience in many areas of law including landlord and tenant, employment, human rights, social assistance and disability appeals. 

At Morrison Reist, Holly represents clients in both family and employment law matters.  In family law, Holly advises clients in all aspects of matrimonial law and family disputes including custody and access, divorce, marriage and cohabitation contracts and separation agreements.  She is heavily involved in Collaborative Family Law.  In employment law, Holly advises on all aspects of the employment relationship, including advising and representing both employees and employers on human rights, resolving workplace conflicts, advising on and negotiating severance packages and representing employers and employees in litigation.  In particular, Holly has a dedicated interest in human rights law with experience representing clients in human rights matters.

Holly is a compassionate lawyer who is dedicated to assisting individuals through a difficult time in their life.  Understanding that family and employment matters cannot be “one size fits all”, Holly takes the time to understand the personal circumstances of her clients and focuses on each client’s needs and preferences in order to custom tailor the most appropriate and effective approach to their legal dispute.  Before courts and tribunals, Holly is an innovative and vigorous advocate.  She prepares her files and clients diligently to ensure that the best results are achieved.
